SOME SIGHTS

Dublin is the biggest city in the Republic of Ireland and as a result, you can find a lot of different sights there. So if you want to go to Dublin, you won't become bored.

Here are some more sights, which you can visit in Dublin: Shelbourne Park Greyhound Stadium, Dublin Zoo, National Museum at Kildare Street or Oscar Wilde Memorial.

Another sight is “The Spire of Dublin“ or “The Monument of Light“, which you can see in our logo. This needle is a symbol for the column of admiral Nelson, which was destroyed in 1966.

This building is 123 metres high and has a diameter of 3 metres at the bottom and 15 centimetres at the top. It's very huge and impressive, so in our point of view it's a nice possibility to visit.

The next one is the “Ha'penny Bridge“, which connects the quarters Temple Bar and Bachelor's Walk across the river Liffey. We also saw this bridge when we had our “Hop on – Hop off – Tour“

and it's very beautiful and it's a nice contrast to the modern parts of the city.

The General Post Office is also a great place to visit, because of its old-fashioned style. You can find this building near “The Spire“ in O'Connell Street. For us it was a completely new ambiance for a normal post office, because in Germany they don't look that nice, so probably you're also interested in this.

And for people who want to spend more time outside, Phoenix Park is a good address. It's also called “The Green Lungs“ of Dublin, because it's located about 3 kilometres away from the city centre and it's perfect for relaxing a little bit. We were there after a long day and the whole atmosphere was pretty good and calm. We just sat there and watched the traffic or the people who were there as well, but it's also a good possibility to walk around and to explore the huge area of about 8.08 square kilometres.

Here are some hints for your trip to this amazing city.

For everyone who's interested in history, you can admire the so-called “The Famine Sculptures“.

The sense behind is the hunger crisis from 1845 to 1849. We also went there and had a look at this artwork and it was a strange feeling to look into those faces, of course they are just sculptures but they have a deeper sense behind. So we definitely recommend it!

We also had the opportunity to visit the Google headquarters and it was one of the best experiences there. We were allowed to go through the office with our tour guides and had a look at many different parts. Later on we had a discussion and we could ask many questions, so we understood the process of Google a little bit better. It was very nice!

And the last recommendation we want to give you is the Guinness Storehouse, probably one of the most famous sights there because this beer is very popular. So maybe you are interested in this stuff.
